Qigong and Qi Healing has a history of over 4,000 years as a medical tradition. Lots of people believe that Qi healing was or is primarily Taoist, Buddhist, Confucian, or Martial in nature. The truth is from the very beginning people learned to integrate the mind with movements and breathing to maintain health and prevent or remedy physical illnesses. It is an essential part of Chinese medicine and it is considered the energetic link that binds the other disciplines into a holistic system and we always have to keep in mind that Medical Qigong exercises are a comprehensive branch of Traditional Chinese medicine that can regulate the internal functions of the human body by combining movements, breath, and conscious awareness that brings about self-regulation of the vital organs, the result being disease prevention and treatment, strengthening of the body, development of wisdom, longevity, and even realization of special latent abilities. Many who have taken this course have had this experience also. Some of the earliest mentions of Qigong were in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine during the Qin dynasty 221-206-BC also the Dao-Yin Tu was an illustrated book written on silk during the western Han dynasty in the Ma Wang Dui tomb #3 (206 BC to 8A D). Recorded, were movements and breathing exercises for health. It was found alongside other important medical works from that time. This is evidence of Qigong and Chinese medicine evolving side-by-side over the millennia and that throughout history many illnesses have been treated using these self-regulating techniques.
